Privacy Policy

EzFish ("we", "our", "the app") is a South African fishing companion app that helps anglers log trips and catches, and check fishing conditions (weather, tides, swell, moon, solunar periods).

This policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, and your choices. The short version: your fishing data stays on your phone. We do not create accounts, sell data, or show ads.

1. Information the app collects

2. How location is used

• Your coordinates are used only to log where you fished and to request the weather/marine forecast for that spot.
• Location is requested only while the app is open (no background tracking).
• When you fetch a forecast, the spot coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) to return the forecast. Open-Meteo is a free service, does not require an account, and receives no other personal data.
• You can disable location access at any time in your device settings; the app still works (weather is skipped).

3. Local storage — no accounts

EzFish has no accounts and no cloud sync. All trips, catches, spots, photos and settings live in a local database on your device. Nothing is uploaded to us — there is no server of ours to upload to.

4. Third-party services

• Firebase Analytics / Crashlytics (Google) — anonymised usage statistics and crash reports so we can find and fix bugs. Data is processed by Google under Google's privacy policy.
• Open-Meteo — weather and marine forecast data (coordinates only, as above).
• Google Maps (if in-app maps are used) — map tiles are loaded from Google; standard Google Maps terms apply.
• Share feature — when you share a catch card (WhatsApp/Facebook/etc.), the share is handled by the app you choose on your own device. We never see the share.

6. Data deletion

Because everything is stored locally, deleting is simple: uninstall the app (removes all app data from your device) or clear app data in device settings. There is no server-side copy to delete.

7. Children's privacy

The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.

8. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at https://ezappz.co.za/privacy/ezfish/ and the effective date above will be updated.
